The PRO name means this is a product developed in direct collaboration with the world’s top riders and represents the pinnacle of innovation, designed and built to deliver race performance. The SES 4.5 PRO is the second product in our road line to receive this designation, after the one-piece SES Aero PRO handlebar.

INNERDRIVE BECOMES FEATHERWEIGHT

At the heart of the 4.5 PRO wheel is the PRO hub, which brings ENVE’s proven INNERDRIVE technology into an ultralight straight-pull hub shell. Weighing only 281 grams for the hub set (rear 194 grams, front 87 grams), the INNERDRIVE PRO can compete with the lightest hubs available without sacrificing the stiffness demanded by the world’s best.

WHEN SPEED MATTERS MOST

World Tour road races demand an exceptional balance of aerodynamics, weight optimization, and compliance with governing body regulations. The SES 4.5 PRO’s focus on professional riders’ needs requires compliance with equipment rules set by governing bodies. Depending on course requirements, riders often choose 28 mm tires when road conditions are smooth and weight savings are a priority. With the 4.5 currently in line, where riders most often pair it with 30 mm tires, ENVE seized the opportunity to create a specially built aerodynamic climbing wheel, not meant to be everyone’s wheel but rather a refined tool for World Tour speed climbs.

In short, after nearly 10 years, the SES 4.5 shape continues to outperform its potential. This is how ENVE became the wheel partner of the UAE Team Emirates. Unknown to ENVE, UAE had purchased the market-leading wheels and independently tested them in the wind tunnel and on the road. The rest is history.

CERAMIC BEARINGS

Bearing resistance is influenced by numerous factors, including bearing seals, ball bearings, races, and support. Other factors such as manufacturing consistency, tolerances, grease content, and viscosity also play an important role. To control each of these variables, we partnered with a leading bearing supplier to create what we believe is the best ceramic bearing for wheels available on the market. The new ENVE PRO ceramic bearings feature protective hardened stainless steel races that do not rust, grade 5 ceramic balls, contactless seals on the inner side of the bearing to reduce aerodynamic drag, and a semi-contact seal on the outer side to keep debris out. The ENVE Pro Ceramic Bearing solution is one that quickly feels fast in hand and ensures long-term reliability.

INNERDRIVE PRO TECH

Using the same INNERDRIVE technology found in the Premium Straight-Pull hubs that raced in the World Tour for their second season, the PRO hub set receives the same hop-up kit developed for our professional teams. This includes a light-action ratchet spring to reduce drag and a 40-tooth ratchet. Like the Premium Straight-Pull hubs, the PRO hub uses the same spoke alignment feature to reduce spoke twist.
