The most affordable direct-drive smart trainer on the market!
The Flux is a compact, realistic, and maintenance-free direct-drive interactive trainer. The trainer’s response is immediate; the Smart electronics combined with the 7 kg flywheel transmit even the slightest changes in effort directly to your legs.
Among all Tacx trainers, the Flux has the heaviest flywheel, with a perceivable effect up to 23 kg. The higher the flywheel inertia, the more realistic the riding experience. It uses ANT+ and Bluetooth® Smart protocols to communicate and can be wirelessly connected to smartphones and tablets. The ANT+ and FE-C protocols allow you to train with the Tacx App as well as third-party apps like Zwift and TrainerRoad. You can also use the trainer without any connection; if it’s not connected to anything, it will simulate a flat route.
PC Connection
Do you have a Flux Smart and want to get everything Tacx apps can offer? You can achieve this by connecting the trainer to your computer. This way, you can train with the Tacx Trainer 4 Advanced software. Unlike your tablet or smartphone, your computer lets you adjust resistance and view performance data. For example, the PC software offers longer videos in HD or Blu-Ray resolution. While you pedal, the resistance on your rear wheel is automatically adjusted as the slope increases or decreases.
To connect the Flux Smart to your Windows PC, the Smart Upgrade is required; this package includes the Trainer software 4 Advanced, a handlebar-mounted controller, and the ANT+ antenna.
- Tacx apps & third-party apps software. PC software upgrade.
- Automatic operations.
- Direct Drive resistance unit.
- Realistic simulated slope 10% with a total weight of 75 kg.
- Simulated descent: no.
- Maximum braking power (10 s): 1500W.
- Inertial mass: 22.8 kg (flywheel effect: the higher this value, the more realistic the cycling experience).
Electromagnetic brake
The Flux Smart trainer operates with an electronic brake. By positioning magnets and electromagnets around a rotating aluminum disc, eddy currents are generated, which create an opposing magnetic field. This results in a contactless, maintenance-free brake that is also extremely quiet. Thanks to the electronic brake, the resistance can be set to simulate both flat roads and mountain climbs.
Virtual speed
When riding in virtual reality or watching a video, you might exceed the performance limits of the electronic brake. To allow cyclists using trainers with electronic resistance to compete fairly against those with electric brakes in multiplayer challenges, Tacx developed virtual speed. This feature translates the extra energy required into speed, ensuring a level playing field. If this speed differs from the actual rear wheel speed, it is displayed in red on the screen.
Software and Apps
You can connect the Tacx Smart trainer to your smartphone, tablet, or computer via ANT+ or Bluetooth Smart to use our software and apps or those from others. You can also use it independently without connecting the trainer to any device. This means you are completely free to choose the software you prefer for your indoor training.
With our software and apps, you can tailor your training based on heart rate, slope, and power, or choose a famous race route. Additionally, you can compete online with other cyclists. Trainer options vary depending on the application used.
Compatible cassette sprockets
The Flux features a universal EDCO Multisys freehub body compatible with all Shimano and SRAM cassettes, and most Campagnolo cassettes. Compatibility with the latter depends on the number of cassette splines. Unfortunately, cassettes with 8 splines cannot be mounted.
Below is the list of NON-compatible cassettes:
Current 10-speed series: Veloce, Centaur.
Previous 10-speed series: Record Ti, Record, Chorus, Centaur, Veloce.
- Quick release included.
- Cassette NOT included
