Metal Carbon is a wheel designed for trail performance and features a carbon rim with a 32 mm internal channel: a choice based on test results showing that this width provides the best support for 2.4-2.6” tires. The rim design is the distinctive and established Nip(ple) Force design, engineered to maximize the balance between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance, thanks also to the targeted use of the proprietary FF80 fiber and resin mix.
After being introduced in XC with Red Zone Carbon, this design is now adapted for Metal Carbon for trail use, with an entirely new layup to meet the needs of trail riders.
The main advantage of this solution is a wheel with balanced and reliable performance, as well as increased resistance to stress. This result is achieved with a double asymmetry - 6mm on one side and 3.5mm on the other.
The 2-Way FitTM rim is made with an unperforated bridge, which increases strength and eliminates the need for tubeless tape, and the DSRCTM supports are embedded in the carbon fiber around the spoke hole to provide greater nipple support and distribute tension over a wider area, as well as eliminating potential galvanic corrosion issues.
