OBERMAYER EVO is the further development of the popular MEILENSTEIN OBERMAYER wheel and is available as a disc brake model. The tubeless version offers the best stiffness/weight ratio and maximum heat resistance. OBERMAYER EVO is particularly lightweight and is one of the lightest, most exclusive, and powerful disc wheels in the world.
Lightweight engineers left nothing to chance. That’s why they used LCC carbon, already tested and successfully used in the aerospace sector. Thanks to the Active Foam Core, they once again managed to save weight and increase stiffness. The proven Rim-to-Rim design, combined with the Lightweight Performance Shape, guarantees breathtaking acceleration. The full carbon spokes are directly connected to the wheel and, thanks to the specially optimized CFRP fibers, ensure unparalleled braking precision. The innovative Pentagon SL hub is 60 grams lighter and improves heat dissipation during braking, thus increasing safety on long descents. The maximum allowed weight for the OBERMAYER EVO system is 100 kg.

Technology
Lightweight and high-performance shape
The components of Lightweight wheels are a perfect geometric match. The rim with Active Foam Core, the Pentagon hub design, and the Rim-to-Rim spokes are perfectly connected and allow the ultra-light and stiff construction of Lightweight wheels. The monocoque construction with LCC carbon of Lightweight wheels is very elaborate and provides the best stiffness-to-weight ratios (STW). In cross-section, the rim and directly connected spokes form an X that results in less wheel torsion and greater power transmission directly to the road.
Rim-to-Rim design
Unlike the classic wheel design, Lightweight carbon spokes run continuously from one side of the rim through the hub to the other side of the rim. This so-called Rim-to-Rim design provides extremely high torsional and lateral stiffness, which cannot be achieved with traditional spokes. The spokes can absorb tensile forces up to 1,800 kg and are about 3 times stiffer than a steel spoke. The connection of the carbon spokes to the hub and rim, thanks to form and material coupling (firmly laminated), eliminates any deformation and guarantees breathtaking propulsion. Additionally, this type of connection ensures enormous durability of the entire wheel.
Active Foam Core
Inside the rim is a high-performance foam core called Active Foam Core. Thanks to a patented process, Lightweight is able to build wheels that are not only lighter but also achieve significantly higher stiffness due to reduced deformation. Compared to traditional models without a core, the Active Foam Core has a vibration damping effect and consequently ensures a smooth ride.
LCC Carbon
Not all carbon is the same. For Lightweight wheels, only a specially selected material is used, the so-called Lightweight Custom Composite Carbon - LCC carbon. A special combination of very thin prepregs with high-strength and stiffness fiber types allows reducing wall thickness and setting new standards in terms of stiffness and weight without compromising durability and safety.
Pentagon Hub
Lightweight engineers developed a unique design for maximum power transmission. The Pentagon hub design is the technological heart of every Lightweight disc brake wheel. It is available in standard and SL versions and is used in various Lightweight wheels. In the SL (Super Light) version, the total weight was further reduced by 70 grams (in the set) and aerodynamics were improved. The high heat acting from the brake disc on the hub is reliably dissipated. The additional polygonal (pentagon) form closure of the hub housing ensures an extremely secure power flow from the tire to the brake disc. This increases safety, especially on longer descents.
