Technologies

MaxxSpeed

The new MaxxSpeed (2023) is our flagship rubber compound for XC racing. It is a high-silica compound that reduces rolling resistance and improves wet traction. Compared to the previous 3C MaxxSpeed, the new compound has about 25% lower rolling resistance in the lab (using the same tread pattern, structure, and tire pressure). In real-world conditions, our tests show the new compound can save up to a minute over a 90-minute race.

EXO

EXO is a cut- and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires. This tightly woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring tire performance is not compromised. Choose EXO Protection for increased durability on gravel, XC, and light trail routes.

Tubeless Ready

Tubeless ready tires offer many advantages to the rider: the ability to use lower air pressures, which improves traction, lower rolling resistance compared to a tire with an inner tube, and less chance of punctures due to the absence of an inner tube. Tubeless ready tires are marked with the “TR” label on the sidewall.
Tubeless ready tires must be mounted on rims compatible with tubeless systems and require the use of a liquid sealant to maintain pressure. Liquid sealants have the added benefit of sealing small punctures. Be sure to check the sealant regularly and replace it if necessary, as it dries out over time.
Liquid sealants should only be used in the following types of tires: road tubeless, tubular, and tubeless ready. Using liquid sealants in any other Maxxis tire voids the warranty.
