SmartNet Silica

Directly from its experience and know-how in Motorsport, Pirelli introduces a patented race formulation to cycling, capable of guaranteeing maximum grip and smoothness on dry and wet surfaces. The elongated shape of the Silica molecules, unlike the common spherical molecular silica used so far, allows a new level of sophistication in the tread compound, resulting in improved handling thanks to the ability to orient the compound in the rolling direction. Furthermore, the enhanced mechanical resistance of the tread achieved by the improved interaction of Silica with other components (such as aramid fibers directly dispersed in the compound) increases puncture protection and tire durability.
