Technologies
Black Chili Compound
The rolling properties of a tireâs rubber compound are mainly determined by three interacting factors: rolling resistance and mileage. The dilemma: improving one of these factors can negatively affect at least one of the others. A tire with maximum grip wears out faster and rolls more slowly. If a tire is made faster and more durable, grip is reduced in turn.
With the Black Chili compound, a tread compound always based on the latest polymer knowledge and raw material research, Continental has provided the cycling industry with a lasting solution. Depending on the tire application, Continental adapts the compound formulation to the specific discipline: road or mountain biking, time trials or downhill.
How does it work? For Black Chili, Continental refines special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create high-performance tread compounds. Continental then adds carbon black particles, optimized in shape and surface properties.
Vectran Breaker
Vectran⢠is spun from a liquid crystal polymer. This creates a thermoplastic multifilament yarn. To compare: this partially crystalline fabric is more cut-resistant than aramid and its tensile strength is five times that of steel. A Vectran⢠Breaker is lighter, more flexible, and more effective against cuts than a comparable nylon breaker, without affecting rolling resistance.
Lazer Grip
Lazer Grip, to become one with the road. The laser-etched microprofile structure extends onto the tire shoulder and ensures exceptional cornering grip.
Active Comfort Technology
A revolutionary approach to cycling. Integrated into the tire structure, Active Comfort technology absorbs vibrations and makes pedaling smoother.
Tubeless Ready
Continentalâs casing structure is robust and resistant to damage and penetration by foreign objects. The result: versatility, reduced weight, and attractive design. Additionally, tires made with this technology can also be used as Tubeless or with an inner tube.
