Technologies

Vectran Breaker Protection
The benchmark in puncture protection systems. Vectran is a liquid polymer yarn that is transformed into a thermoplastic, multifilament compound. This semi-crystalline material is harder than aramid, has five times the tensile strength of steel and is also lighter than an equivalent nylon thread. Vectran retains its properties even in the toughest weather conditions and does not adversely affect rolling resistance.

DuraSkin
Tyres with DuraSkin sidewalls must be able to keep rolling even with punctures. They are used in the most extreme conditions. On messenger bikes, they must withstand kerbs and steps; on touring bikes, they cross continents without punctures. On road bikes, they must tackle tough challenges such as Paris-Roubaix. High-quality polyamide protects the tyre casing even in the worst conditions. These tyres stand out from the crowd thanks to their distinctive brown sidewalls.

Founded in Hanover in 1871, Continental is still based in the German city today. For cyclists, it makes tires and inner tubes for road, gravel, mountain biking and urban riding. Its connection with bicycles goes back to its early days: in 1892, it became the first German company to produce pneumatic bicycle tires.
