This is a modern take on the windproof cycling jacket, the one you can keep in your pocket ready to put on for a long descent or during the first hour of riding until the day warms up. This cycling jacket was originally very basic, a simple nylon shell, but its lack of stretch meant it had to be cut generously around the back of the hips to fit all body shapes, both on and off the bike. We completely rethought what a windproof cycling jacket should be and how it should be constructed. We added side panels, and the sleeves use a highly stretchy yet tightly woven fabric that allows us to give the cycling jacket a modern, close-fitting look and retain more warmth than a flapping cycling jacket. We made it extremely compact so it takes up minimal space in a jersey pocket. The stretch panels have a water-repellent treatment to help in light drizzle, but it is not designed to be a dedicated rain cycling jacket.

Castelli’s roots lie in Vittore Gianni’s tailoring shop, founded in Milan in 1876; Maurizio Castelli created the scorpion brand in 1974. Today it is based in Fonzaso and makes clothing for your rides, from jerseys to shorts. In 1977 it introduced aerodynamic Lycra shorts, used in racing and sold to the public.
