Technologies
PowerLock®
The engineers at Sram developed PowerLock® as a secure, easy way to connect the two ends of the chain. PowerLock® requires no special tools for installation, but the particularly tight tolerances of 10-, 11- and 12-speed drivetrains mean that each PowerLock® must only be used once.
Flattop™
To bring X-Range™ technology to life, Sram had to develop a narrower chain. The unique Flattop™ link shape allowed a wider gear range, quieter drivetrain operation and increased chain strength and durability.

Founded in Chicago in 1987 by Stan Day and a group of cycling enthusiasts, SRAM is still based in the US city today. It makes drivetrains and brakes for road, gravel and mountain bikes. Its story began with a single product: Grip Shift, the shifter that lets riders change gear by twisting the grip.
