Shimano Road Y60098501 Gear Cable Kit

The Shimano Road gear cable kit (code Y60098501) contains everything needed to fit a new rear derailleur or replace all the gear cables on a road bike. It includes two steel inner cables measuring 1.2 mm in diameter and 2100 mm in length, black outer housing measuring 4 mm in diameter and 1700 mm in length, plus all the end caps.

It is useful when shifting has become slow or imprecise and you want to replace the cables and outer housing in one go. The outer housing is 1700 mm long, so if you need to shorten it, make sure you cut it to suit the routing on your frame. The black colour matches most road bikes.

Founded in 1921 in Sakai, Japan, by Shozaburo Shimano, Shimano is still based in the same city today. For cyclists, it makes drivetrains, brakes, wheels, pedals and cycling shoes. Its history in bicycle components began with the production of freewheels in 1922.
