A task for the Schwalbe Innovation Hub, where material compositions and design principles are developed from scratch to create products that have never existed before. In collaboration with BASF and experts from the German plastics processing industry, the Aerothan inner tube was developed to meet and exceed expectations of a premium inner tube.

Schwalbe was established in Germany in 1973 by Ralf Bohle, with roots in the family business founded in Bergneustadt in 1922. Today it is based in Reichshof and makes bicycle tyres and inner tubes. Its name means “swallow” in German and translates Swallow, the name of the first tyres imported from Korea.
