The Japanese manufacturer never ceases to amaze us with its innovations. This time it has focused on developing and launching a completely different groupset: the GRX groupset, designed for those who love versatility and do not stop at obstacles.
Thanks to the steadily growing popularity of gravel, cyclocross and touring, Shimano has been able to invest its knowledge and enthusiasm in something completely new. Keeping shifting extremely precise and the chain in place on any terrain posed something of a challenge, but it was overcome through a series of changes drawn from both MTB models and Road models. The built-in stabiliser (clutch) reliably prevents the chain from striking the rear derailleur and frame, keeping it in place. When moving onto road surfaces, where chain control is not vital, the clutch can be disengaged simply by moving the dedicated lever. The rear derailleur has its own adjustment screw for setting cable tension, and 13-tooth jockey wheels with sealed, highly efficient bearings. In the 2x11 configuration, it will be an excellent choice for touring on rough terrain.
